What Is Sequencer Start (Seq. Start)?

The Sequencer Start (or Seq. Start) time in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) session is the specific point on the timeline where your session or export begins. For instance, if you set the Sequencer Start time for 'bar 0' at '00:59:50:00', it's like the starting point of your project.

Now, let's say your music doesn't start right at the beginning, but five bars later. This point, where your music actually begins, is called the 'IN' time. In our example, the 'IN' time would be '01:00:00:00', which corresponds to 'bar 5'. So even though your Sequencer Start time is '00:59:50:00', the music won't start until '01:00:00:00'.

In essence, this allows you to create a bit of 'pre-roll' space before your music starts, which can be handy for various reasons.
